Lake Eyre / Kati Thanda National Park

13 March 2019

Flooding across Western Queensland in early 2019 has resulted in floodwaters heading down the Diamantina and the Warburton for Lake Eyre / Kati Thanda National Park.

The Goyder Lagoon, an extensive wetland area approximately 1300 square kilometres in size, is currently overflowing. Water is expected to arrive in Lake Eyre / Kati Thanda later in March.

Did you know? So high is the unpredictability of wet and dry periods in this part of Australia that the variability of flow for rivers in the Lake Eyre Basin is higher than anywhere else in the world.
