2017 SA Tourism Awards – Bronze Medal

15 May 2018

In 2018, Chinta Air Tours achieved a bronze medal in the category of Specialised Tourism Services at the state tourism awards. It is the third year the company has entered, achieving a bronze medal in the same category in 2017, and a bronze medal in the category of Tour Operators (less than 15 employees) at the 2016 Awards.

Managing Director Noel Schwarz said as the awards categories were fiercely contested, the business was thrilled to take home the prize.

“There were 174 entrants in the awards program and just to be a finalist you had to score at least 75 per cent, so given that level of competition, to be a finalist is fabulous,” he said. “To then gain a medal is brilliant.

“Taking bronze in a different category shows a consistency of service and shows we are meeting a variety of targets.

“We moved between categories because we act as an Uber of the air, we take people from one part of South Australia to another. At each destination, passengers might link up with a 4WD tour or a bus tour. For those tours with overnight stops, the guests then stay in the best available accommodation, and dine on regional specialities.

“In that respect the flights are part of the whole package and we felt this category suited our business better.”

He said the bronze was not only a reflection of the Chinta Air team but showed it was consistently linking with other tour suppliers.
“To then be awarded a medal, in a category with a wide range of quality tour operators, was an real thrill,” he said.

“Our service is to act as an Air Taxi, providing air charter flights to link other high quality tour operators and accommodation providers in a range of destinations across South Australia. For us to win this award is recognition of the high quality of tourism product across the whole state.”
